Job summary

Glencore’s McArthur River Mine in the Gulf of Carpentaria seeks a Mine Geologist with a geology degree and at least 3 years of mining experience, preferably open pit. You will manage grade control, develop geological models, and coordinate drilling campaigns to optimise ore recovery and maintain safety.

The role emphasizes data management and collaboration with mining personnel. Apply with a focus on safety, independence, and teamwork; a Vulcan/Leapfrog background is highly desirable.

Qualifications

• Degree in Geology or related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a mining environment (open pit preferred).
• Strong understanding of geological processes and data management.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• A commitment to safety and the environment.
• Experience with geological software such as Vulcan or Leapfrog is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Liaising with key mining personnel to minimise dilution and maximise the grade and ore recovery
• Managing and developing the site Grade Control System is in line with the Mine Management Plan
• Managing statutory reporting requirements on exploration tenements and mining leases
• Developing side models, including Geology, Grade Control, Resource, OEF and Clay models
• Designing and managing drilling campaigns
