Job summary

Motion Henderson in Western Australia seeks skilled Metal Machinists to join our team and grow in on-site and workshop environments. You’ll work with line boring, portable mills, and various CNC/manual machines, developing expertise in in-situ machining across WA and potentially nationwide.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Manual or CNC Machinist with on-site proficiency is desirable.
• Willingness to travel and work across sites in WA and beyond is preferred.
• Experience with reading technical drawings and maintaining measurement equipment.

Responsibilities

• Set up and machine on CNC lathes, CNC mills, and manual machines.
• In-situ machining including line boring, milling, drilling, tapping, flange facing, and radial milling.
• Manufacture parts to drawings, samples and instructions.
• Maintain inspection equipment and keep machining areas clean and organized.
• Ensure machines run productively and monitor setup/down times.
• Liaise with Programmer or Workshop Manager on tooling and process.
• Complete dimensional inspection reports and paperwork.
• Assist in other areas as directed by Workshop Manager.

We are seeking skilled Metal Machinists to join our growing team in Henderson with the opportunity to develop knowledge of in-situ machining work. Whether you’re an experienced manual machinist or a skilled CNC machinist looking to expand your expertise into this exciting field, this is your opportunity to grow and work on unique, hands‑on projects.

Based in our Henderson workshop where we complete jobbing works, there will be ample opportunity to take part in in-situ machining works within the Perth Metro area and also around the nation should you choose.

About the Role

• Setting up & machining on various machines; CNC Lathes, CNC Mills, CNC Horizontal borers, Manual machining,
• In-situ machining various types including line boring, CNC milling, manual milling, drilling tapping, flange facing and radial milling
• Carry out manufacture of products to drawing specifications, samples & instructions.
• Maintain measuring and inspection equipment in good order while also having a high level of housekeeping within the machining areas.
• Ensure machines are running productively, monitoring set up and down times to produce parts as efficiently as possible.
• Liaise with Programmer or Workshop Manager to review machining process and tooling.
• Completion of dimensional inspection reports and associated paper work.
• Assist in other areas as directed by the Workshop Manager.

Multiple roles available: tasks may vairy depending on individual applicants’ skill set and interests.

What We’re Looking For

• Proven experience as a Manual Machinist or CNC Machinist in either milling or turning and would be beneficial to have a strong interest in transitioning to on-site machining.
• ARC or MIG welding experience preferred but not essential
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to travel and work in a variety of environments.
• A commitment to safety and quality in all aspects of work.
• Relevant certifications or trade qualifications in metal machining, first class machinist, fitter machinist or equivalent.
