Qualifications

  • Previous CNC machining experience is essential.
  • CNC lathe setup and machining experience is highly desirable, but not essential for the right CNC candidate.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and work to tight tolerances.
  • Knowledge of tooling selection, inserts, feeds and speeds.
  • Confident using precision measuring equipment, including micrometres.
  • Strong focus on quality, productivity and continuous improvement.
  • Able to manage workload effectively and work well as part of a team.
  • Committed to safe work practices, environmental compliance and professional conduct.

Responsibilities

  • Set and operate CNC lathes, horizontal/vertical borers and milling machines.
  • Select suitable tooling, inserts, feeds and speeds for each machining application.
  • Machine components to drawing specifications, samples and required tolerances.
  • Work with a range of materials including carbon steel, stainless steel and exotic steels.
  • Inspect completed work using appropriate measuring and inspection equipment.
  • Maintain calibration and condition of measuring equipment.
  • Monitor machine performance, setup times and production efficiency.
  • Complete job sheets, compliance documentation and timesheets accurately.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping, quality and safe working practices.
  • Work independently while collaborating with the Programmer, Workshop Manager and wider team.
  • Identify opportunities to improve machining processes, tooling and productivity.

We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to join our dynamic team at Henderson. This role is ideally suited to someone with CNC lathe experience; however, applicants with strong CNC machining experience across milling, boring, or other CNC machine types are encouraged to apply.
