Job summary
Global Express in Melbourne is seeking a Manufacturing Execution Systems Engineer to own automation and control systems for our freight operations. You’ll troubleshoot PLCs, WCS, MES and sortation control systems, responding to faults and driving improvements in throughput and reliability.
The role requires an engineering qualification and 2–3+ years in industrial automation, with hands-on PLC troubleshooting and Siemens SIMATIC experience. Melbourne-based with occasional travel to other sites.
Qualifications
- Engineering qualification in Electrical, Automation, Mechatronics or related discipline.
- 2–3+ years experience in industrial automation, controls, engineering or maintenance.
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting PLC-controlled equipment.
Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on support for PLC, WCS, MES and sortation control systems.
- Respond to automation and control system faults during live operations.
- Troubleshoot electrical, PLC, network and control system issues.
- Develop, test and modify PLC programs to support upgrades and improvements.
- Perform root cause analysis on complex automation faults.
- Support maintenance and optimisation of automated sortation and conveyors.
