Job summary

Aje in Sydney is seeking a Merchandise Allocator at our Head Office to drive initial allocations, replenishment, and consolidations across stores and online. You will work with planners, logistics, VM, buying and retail teams to move stock efficiently and optimise stock levels.

The role requires strong analytical mindset, Excel skills, and an eye for fashion and store performance. You will refresh reports, monitor sell-through, and help shape allocation strategies to maximise sales and margin.

Qualifications

• Experience in a retail allocations role is preferred.
• Strong commercial awareness with data-driven decision making.
• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
• Intermediate or Advanced Excel skills desirable.

OVERVIEW

Responsible for initial allocations, replenishment and consolidations, sending the right stock, to the right place, at the right time to achieve financial objectives.

Working closely with cross-functional teams, the Merchandise Allocator will execute allocation strategies, manage in-season inventory movements, and provide data-driven insights to optimise stock levels across the business.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Inventory Management

• Develop initial allocation strategies at the style-colour-size level, guided by the Planner, considering product performance, fashionability, seasonality, store capacity, product type and store feedback.
• Managing replenishment and balancing priorities based on business requirements to maximise sales and sell through performance.
• Oversee accurate and timely allocation of seasonal orders, considering store capacity, buy quantities and store performance, understanding metrics such as ROS and cover.
• Recommend and execute consolidations, considering price status/VM requirements.
• Allocate free stock and recuts as necessary, recommending replenishment strategy to align with business objectives.
• Working closely with the Logistics team to ensure orders are allocated accurately and arrive on time in stores and online, communicating any necessary updates to key stakeholders, being on top of weekly updates on shipping status

Reporting

• Analyse sales performance and monitor sell through/cover, proposing actions to improve sales performance and reduce consolidation requirement /markdown risk to the business.
• Present in a clear, concise and accurate manner.
• Develop strong understanding of store and regional specific sales trends and performance through data analysis and regular communication with Retail and Trade teams.
• Refresh Monday reports in a timely manner, checking accuracy.

Commercial Awareness

• Building strong relationships and work collaboratively with the wider business - logistics, VM, buying, retail , online.
• Build a dynamic understanding of the customer through regular store visits & proactively seeking customer feedback from all business channels.
• Develop a robust understanding of the weekly sales, profit, margin drivers and trade reports, to propose strategic trading actions and identify opportunities across channels.

Training & Development

• Initiating improvements in best practice, continually challenging processes to ensure work is carried out in the most efficient way.

REQUIRED AND DESIRED SKILLS

Technical and Behavioural

• Experience in a retail allocations role preferred, but not required
• Strong commercial awareness with a focus on analytical and data-driven decision-making
• Experience in store is highly regarded
