Symbolic Recruitment is seeking a Registered Psychiatric Nurse Grade 2 (RPN2) for a secure forensic environment in Melbourne. The role delivers specialist mental health nursing care, therapeutic engagement and recovery-focused practice within multidisciplinary teams. Salary ranges from $86,580 p.a.

to $107,520.40 p.a. The ideal candidate will hold AHPRA registration, a Postgraduate Certificate in Mental Health Nursing, and be eligible to work in Australia, with 2+ years' post-registration

Registered Psychiatric Nurse Grade 2 (RPN2)

RPN2 Year 2 - $86,580 p.a to RPN2 Year 8 - $107,520.40 p.a

Position Purpose

The RPN2 provides specialist mental health nursing care within a secure forensic environment. The role combines therapeutic engagement, recovery-focused practice, risk management, care coordination and participation in multidisciplinary treatment programs. RPN2s may also rotate through the Early Intervention Support Team (EIST), supporting clinical teams with de-escalation, behavioural management and therapeutic engagement across the hospital.

Essential Qualifications

Candidates must possess:

• Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA
• Minimum of Postgraduate Certificate in Mental Health Nursing (or recognised equivalent)
• Eligibility to work in Australia
• Ability to satisfy police and security screening requirements

Preferred Experience

• Typically 2+ years post-registration psychiatric nursing experience

Highly Desirable Experience

• Acute psychiatric units
• Psychiatric intensive care units (PICU)
• Correctional or prison health services
• High dependency mental health environments

Clinical Capability Requirements

Demonstrated ability to:

• Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments
• Develop and implement recovery-focused care plans
• Undertake risk assessment and risk management planning
• Participate in multidisciplinary treatment planning
• Administer and monitor psychotropic medications
• Deliver group-based therapeutic interventions
• Engage consumers experiencing severe and persistent mental illness
