Job summary

The GEO Group Australia is seeking a Registered Mental Health Nurse for Fulham Correctional Centre, near Sale in regional Victoria. This full-time role focuses on improving mental health care and suicide prevention within a correctional environment.

You will develop care plans, coordinate health assessments, and implement targeted suicide prevention strategies, reporting to the Health Services Manager. AHPRA registration and psychiatric nursing post-graduate experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Completed Psychiatric Registered Nurse training.
• Current AHPRA registration and psychiatric nursing experience.
• Ability to perform mental health assessments and crisis intervention.

Fulham Correctional Centre is part of The GEO Group Australia, based near Sale, regional Victoria and delivers comprehensive, professional, nursing services in a correctional setting.

About the Opportunity

A Full-Time position is available for a Registered Mental Health Nurse at Fulham Correctional Centre. Part-Time opportunities may be available upon discussion.

Reporting to the Health Services Manager, the primary objective of the Registered Mental Health Nurse is to enhance suicide prevention programs and strategies at the Fulham Correctional Centre.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Define and maintain the standard of nursing practice within the Correctional Centre
• Develop mental health nursing care plans for prisoners with a P rating
• Coordinate and undertake physical and mental health assessments on all new receptions entering the Correctional Centre
• Develop and implement suicide / self-harm strategies and regularly assess their effectiveness

Salary on offer:

• Full-Time 112,736.53 p.a.
• Part-Time $54.20 p/h

Skills & Experience

To succeed in the role, you will possess the following:

• Completed Psychiatric Registered Nurse training
• Current AHPRA registration
• Professional post graduate experience as a Psychiatric Nurse
• Competence in the performance of medical emergency, physical assessment, crisis intervention, medical & psychiatric nursing care and venipuncture preferable
• Ability to work without direct, immediate supervision in performing psychiatric evaluations
• Providing appropriate follow through treatment
