As a Mental Health Practitioner, you will provide flexible, outreach-based care for young people aged 12-25 who are experiencing significant and complex challenges, including severe mental illness or the risk of developing it, and disconnection from mainstream services and supports. Working closely with a Functional Recovery Manager in a two-worker model, you will deliver integrated clinical and psychosocial support that promotes recovery, engagement, social participation and long-term well-being. The role combines advanced clinical practice with mentoring and service innovation, grounded in a relational, person-centred, trauma- and poverty-informed model of care. Services are often delivered in homes, schools, parks, cafés, courtrooms, and other community settings. You will participate actively in multidisciplinary team case reviews, coordinate care effectively, and occasionally facilitate therapeutic group sessions.
You have experience and a strong commitment to combining clinical expertise with deep relationship-building and responsive, trauma-informed care. You understand the inter-connectedness of individuals and their communities, demonstrating unconditional positive regard and genuine care for vulnerable young people and their families.
You prioritise connection, presence and integrity in complex work, and model these qualities for others. You're passionate about being part of something meaningful and helping to build and contribute to a growing organisation, with motivation that comes from authentic alignment with our mission, purpose and values.
You effectively manage emotional demands, sustain your well-being and embed self-care and reflective practice into your routine. You're highly self-reflective, bring a growth mindset and value opportunities to learn from experience, with a strong commitment to continuous personal and professional growth.
You bring cultural humility, a strong commitment to equity and the ability to engage inclusively across diverse communities. You thrive in outreach environments where flexibility and adaptability are essential.
You work well with colleagues, partners and systems, contributing to learning, innovation and continuous improvement. You actively create and nurture a positive workplace culture and support a sustainable team culture.
You can hold multiple truths, consider different perspectives and sit with tension, uncertainty and discomfort. You remain curious and reflective when there are no easy answers, working through complexity with care and sound judgement.
Appointment is subject to RAYS' child-safe recruitment and screening requirements, including relevant reference and background checks.
