Job summary

Victoria Police - Public Service Positions in Melbourne is seeking clinicians to support the psychological wellbeing of Victoria Police employees and public service staff. The role covers clinical assessment, therapy, crisis intervention and advisory support across multiple squads.

Three full-time, ongoing positions are available at the Victoria Police Centre, with on-call duties and pre-employment checks. Flexible working arrangements are supported within a modern workplace.

Qualifications

• Full registration as a Psychologist, Mental Health Nurse or Mental Health Occupational Therapist with AHPRA; or registration as an Social Worker with AASW.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical services including assessment, consultations and therapy for Victoria Police staff.
• Deliver immediate crisis intervention for complex trauma and psychological issues.
• Support state-wide critical incident response including psychological first aid.
• Advise senior management and supervisors on clinical and organisational psychology matters.
• Develop professional services with diverse squads and units and implement support programs.
• Establish networks with Victoria Police personnel and external stakeholders.
• Participate in a rostered 24-hour on-call service for crisis response.

The Police Psychology Unit is a dynamic team of leaders and mental health clinicians whose role is to support, enhance and develop the psychological wellbeing of Victoria Police employees. The team works to ensure that Victoria Police employees are well equipped to manage the varied psychological demands of their roles and requires clinicians to have a diverse skill set of clinical and organisational skills.

Your duties will include:

• Providing a range of clinical services including support and consultation, clinical assessment and other therapeutic interventions to Victoria Police members and public service staff.
• Providing immediate and autonomous crisis intervention involving complex trauma and psychological issues.
• Providing state-wide critical incident response including the provision of psychological first aid.
• Providing advice and consultancy services to senior management and supervisors about clinical and organisational psychology matters.
• Developing professional services with a diverse range of squads and work units across Victoria Police including developing and implementing support programs.
• Establishing working relationships and networks with Victoria Police personnel and external stakeholders.
• Participating in a rostered 24 hour on-call service for crisis and critical incident response.

About You:

• High-level clinical expertise and demonstrated ability in the provision of clinical risk assessments, interventions, and case management.
• Demonstrated experience in providing critical incident response and psychological first aid.
• Demonstrated ability to provide immediate and autonomous clinical judgement and crisis intervention in highly stressful, complex and sensitive situations.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage workload including prioritising tasks and meeting deadlines.
• Highly developed communication and presentation skills.
• The ability to build and maintain effective relationships with a range of stakeholders.
• Full registration as a Psychologist, Mental Health Nurse or Mental Health Occupational Therapist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA); or
• Registration as a Social Worker with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).

• Three (3) x full-time, ongoing positions available.
• This position is located at Victoria Police Centre, 311 Spencer Street, Docklands.
• This position requires on call work as indicated in the Position Description (as attached to the advertisement).
• Current drivers licence is required.

• The successful candidate will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.
