Job summary

CatholicCare NT is seeking a Men’s Behaviour Change Program (MBCP) Practitioner in Darwin or Wadeye to assess, manage and refer participants, delivering against program objectives.

The role requires facilitating groups, maintaining contact with participants, and linking men to relevant support services while meeting contractual requirements and ensuring safety.

Qualifications

  • Qualifications in Men's Behaviour change and relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated cultural competency, particularly with Indigenous people.
  • Understanding of the gendered nature of domestic and family violence.
  • Experience in evidence-based interventions, including facilitating group work.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills including report writing and case notes.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver against contractual requirements and program objectives.
  • Facilitate groups in Darwin or Wadeye and manage participants appropriately.
  • Maintain contact with the person using violence (PUV) and develop exit strategies.
  • Link men into relevant support groups and services.

About The Program

CatholicCare NT is a not-for-profit organisation, providing counselling services and programs to individuals, couples, families, children, groups, and agencies across the Northern Territory. CCNT has a commitment to the reduction of domestic and family violence (DFV) through targeting men as a primary change agent. The Men’s Behaviour Change Program (MBCP) is based in Darwin and Wadeye. The program works with men who use violent, abusive and/or controlling behaviours in their relationships, to develop new behaviours and improve the safety of women and children. CCNT’s MBCP is a 24-week groupwork program based in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) where participants are provided with education, support, individual case management and referrals to other services. The Men’s Behaviour change team also supports the Co-Responder project.

About The Role

The MBCP Practitioner will work with the MBCP team to ensure that participants are assessed, managed, and referred appropriately. The MBCP Practitioner is responsible to deliver against contractual requirements and program objectives by facilitating groups in Darwin or Wadeye, maintaining contact with the person using Violence (PUV), developing exit strategies, and linking men into relevant support groups such as men’s healing programs that can help consolidate new skills.

What We Are Looking For
