Help grow and strengthen the membership of a national organisation connecting leaders across Australia’s transport and infrastructure sector.
Transport Australia is looking for a proactive and relationship-focused Membership Coordinator to help us grow our membership, strengthen engagement with existing members and deliver an outstanding member experience.
Working closely with the General Manager and broader Transport Australia team, you’ll coordinate membership activity across the full member lifecycle, from prospective member development and onboarding through to engagement, retention and renewal.
This role combines relationship building, membership growth, coordination and CRM/data management. It will suit someone who enjoys connecting with people, takes ownership of opportunities and follow-ups, and is equally comfortable building relationships and keeping the detail behind them organised.
This is an opportunity to play an important role in the growth of a national transport industry organisation and build relationships with leaders across Australia’s transport, infrastructure and government sectors.
In our small, collaborative team, you’ll have real ownership and visibility. You’ll help bring new members into Transport Australia, strengthen relationships with existing members and connect organisations and their people with opportunities across our events, policy activities, programs and industry network.
You’ll also help us continually improve how we work, using Salesforce, data and better processes to create a seamless member experience and support continued membership growth.
You’ll help coordinate and progress membership activity across Transport Australia, including:
Managing activity across the member lifecycle, including prospecting, acquisition, onboarding, engagement, retention and renewal
Researching prospective members and maintaining an accurate and well‑managed prospect pipeline
Contributing to Transport Australia’s member acquisition and sponsorship targets
Progressing member and prospect communications, meetings and follow‑ups
Delivering a warm, organised and professional onboarding experience for new members
Coordinating membership renewals and retention activity and ensuring agreed actions are followed through
Building strong relationships with members, prospective members and industry stakeholders
Developing an understanding of members’ priorities and identifying ways they can become more involved with Transport Australia
Connecting members with relevant events, policy activities, programs, committees, partnerships, briefings and other opportunities
Participating in Transport Australia events and activities and supporting event coordination as part of our one-team approach
Owning the quality and accuracy of membership and prospect data in Salesforce
Tracking membership activity, engagement, prospects, renewals and follow‑ups
Producing accurate membership reporting and insights
Identifying practical ways to improve our membership systems, processes and overall member experience.
You’re someone who builds relationships naturally but also has the organisation and discipline to make sure opportunities and commitments are followed through.
You are likely to bring:
At least three years’ experience in membership, stakeholder engagement, relationship management, business development or a related role
Strong relationship‑building skills and confidence engaging professionally with senior stakeholders
Excellent organisation and follow‑through, with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently
Warm, clear and professional written and verbal communication skills
Strong attention to detail and confidence maintaining stakeholder and CRM information
Experience using Salesforce or another CRM to maintain data, track activity and produce reports
A proactive, practical approach and willingness to take ownership
The ability to work collaboratively and adapt quickly within a small, fast-moving organisation.
Experience within a membership organisation, industry association, professional services or similar stakeholder environment would be highly valuable, particularly if you’ve worked across member acquisition, onboarding, engagement, retention or renewals.
Experience with Pardot/Marketing Cloud and Canva or similar tools would also be advantageous.
An interest in Australia’s transport and infrastructure sector would be well regarded.
You’ll join a small, collaborative team where your work will have a visible impact.
The role offers a great combination of relationships, growth, member engagement and systems, rather than being purely administrative. You’ll have the opportunity to get to know our members and their priorities, help bring new organisations into the network and find practical ways to continually improve their experience.
You’ll also have exposure to senior industry and government stakeholders and opportunities to participate in Transport Australia events and activities.
Some interstate travel and occasional work outside standard business hours will be required to support member events and key stakeholder engagements.
If you’re an organised, proactive relationship builder who enjoys taking ownership, following things through and creating a great stakeholder experience, we’d love to hear from you.
