Job summary

nCino in Melbourne is seeking an Associate Manager, Engineering to lead a small software engineering team while remaining hands-on. This player-coach role has you writing and reviewing production code and developing your people, owning both technical direction and delivery.

You’ll guide planning, design, development and testing across enhancements and new products, including cloud-based tools, and you’ll work to grow the team into broader engineering management as the Melbourne office expands.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 6+ years of relevant experience with 1+ year of management experience.
• Strong programming language proficiency and software engineering fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Own architectural decisions for your team’s scope, guiding engineers on scalability and long-term cost of change.
• Write, review, and ship production code, maintaining a high review standard.
• Manage day-to-day execution and delivery with hands-on support when needed.
• Improve team processes, collaboration, and code quality with best practices.
• Line manage a small team: 1:1s, goals, growth plans, performance feedback.
• Support hiring: screening, interviewing, onboarding.
• Mentor engineers across levels and set continuous learning plans.
• Use AI tools to support development activities and set team practices.
• Partner with Product Management on planning and releases.
• Communicate clearly with technical and non-technical audiences.
