Responsibilities

  • Welcome patients and visitors in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Manage incoming telephone calls and patient enquiries.
  • Book, confirm and amend appointments.
  • Assist patients with general enquiries and appointment scheduling.
  • Maintain a high standard of patient confidentiality and privacy.
  • Process Medicare, DVA and private billings.
  • Manage EFTPOS and cash transactions.
  • Perform daily banking and reconciliation processes as required.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and demographic information.
  • Scan, file and manage electronic medical records.
  • Manage appointment schedules.
  • Process recalls, reminders and follow-up communications.
  • Assist with waiting list management.
  • Support clinicians in maintaining efficient appointment utilisation.
  • Provide general administrative support to the practice.
  • Assist with stock ordering and monitoring of office supplies.
  • Prepare correspondence and documentation as required.
  • Support quality improvement and accreditation activities.
  • Assist with administrative projects and process improvements.
  • Work collaboratively with doctors, nurses and administrative staff.
  • Assist with reception coverage and daily workflow management.
  • Contribute to a positive workplace culture.
  • Support business continuity during periods of staff leave and increased workload.

The Medical Receptionist is responsible for providing exceptional customer service to patients while supporting the efficient day-to-day operation of the practice.

As the first point of contact for patients, this role plays a critical part in delivering a positive patient experience and supporting clinicians and administrative staff in the delivery of high-quality healthcare services.

Key Responsibilities
Reception & Patient Services
  • Welcome patients and visitors in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Manage incoming telephone calls and patient enquiries.
  • Book, confirm and amend appointments.
  • Assist patients with general enquiries and appointment scheduling.
  • Maintain a high standard of patient confidentiality and privacy.
Billing & Administration

Remuneration
