Job summary

Chrysos Corporation is seeking a Junior Mechatronics Engineer to support the design, development, validation, commissioning, and production release of PhotonAssay Max systems. You will contribute across mechanical, electrical, control, and automation activities, including automated sample handling, safety systems, and human–machine interfaces.

The role supports prototype validation and new product development to enable safe, reliable, high‑performance deployment globally.

Qualifications

• A tertiary qualification in mechatronic, mechanical or electrical engineering or equivalent experience.
• Experience in programming and debugging PLC systems within an engineering role.
• Experience working within an engineering team in the design and/or technical integration of mechanical or electrical systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including preparation of technical documentation and reports.
• Able and willing to travel interstate and internationally (significant travel in initial 12 months across Australia, North America and China).

Responsibilities

• Contribute to testing and validation of PLC control systems and HMI for Chrysos PhotonAssay Max.
• Contribute to design and integration of key subsystems into PhotonAssay Max units.
• Prepare and review data collection and analysis, reporting findings and preparation of project documents.
• Support troubleshooting during prototype testing and validation phases for mechanical, electrical, and/or programming issues.
• Provide input to identify opportunities for improvement to existing designs or new products.
• Support assembly and commissioning work for new PhotonAssay units in factory and during deployment on site.
