Job summary

Downer Swanbank workshop is seeking a Mechanical Trade Assistant to support mechanics and fabricators with day-to-day maintenance tasks. You will help keep our fleet and equipment safe and ready for operation in a fast-paced workshop environment.

Responsibilities include basic servicing, parts handling, and assisting with fabrication tasks while upholding strong safety and housekeeping standards. Applicants should have relevant hands-on mechanical experience and a current driving licence.

Qualifications

• Current and valid Driver's Licence.
• Experience operating both manual and automatic vehicles.
• Experience in automotive mechanical, fabrication, maintenance, or a similar hands-on trade environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist qualified tradespeople with mechanical and fabrication tasks.
• Carry out basic servicing, maintenance, and small engine repairs.
• Support stores operations, including ordering, receiving, and picking parts.
• Operate a range of vehicles and machinery, including manual and automatic vehicles.
• Contribute to workshop organisation, housekeeping, and safety compliance.
