Job summary

Sands Fridge Lines is seeking a motivated Mechanical Trade Assistant to join our Forrestfield depot workshop. You will work alongside qualified mechanics to service, maintain and repair our fleet of heavy vehicles and trailers, building experience in a fast-paced environment and aiming for a long-term career with a WA transport leader.

Ideal candidates bring basic mechanical aptitude, a willingness to learn, and a strong safety mindset.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a workshop, automotive, transport, or mechanical environment (preferred).
• Basic mechanical aptitude and knowledge of tools and equipment.
• A strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
• Ability to follow instructions and work effectively within a team.
• Good attention to detail and commitment to safety.
• Reliable and punctual attendance.
• Full Australian working rights.
• A current driver's licence and reliable transport to & from work.
• Experience working with trucks, trailers, or heavy vehicles.
• HR Licence (or willingness to obtain).
• Mechanical pre-apprenticeship or related trade exposure.

Responsibilities

• Assist mechanics with servicing, maintenance, and repairs of heavy vehicles and trailers.
• Support workshop operations to ensure maximum fleet reliability and availability.
• Prepare tools, equipment, and parts required for maintenance activities.
• Carry out basic mechanical tasks under supervision.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work environment.
• Follow all company safety procedures and workshop standards.
• Assist with workshop housekeeping and general duties as required.
