CSIRO in Hobart seeks a Mechanical Technician to join the Engineering and Technical Services team. You will fabricate, weld, machine and prototype equipment for diverse research projects, collaborating with engineers and scientists to deliver innovative solutions.

This hands-on role offers exposure to CAD/CAM systems, CNC technologies and advanced manufacturing methods, with opportunities to broaden your skills while supporting science with real-world impact.

Qualificações

• Trade qualification in mechanical engineering.
• Experience with welding TIG, MIG and MMA.
• Experience with CAD/CAM software.
• Experience with CNC programming and operation of CNC lathes and milling machines, including 5-axis machining.

Responsabilidades

• Provide mechanical and technical engineering support to research projects through the Engineering and Technical Services facility.
• Fabricate, modify and maintain equipment and components used in scientific research and engineering development activities.
• Design or adapt equipment, techniques and processes to meet project requirements and client needs.
• Conduct technical testing, investigations, measurements and analysis, including associated calculations and reporting.
• Maintain and troubleshoot complex equipment and support ongoing research operations.
• Collaborate effectively with scientists, engineers, suppliers and colleagues across multidisciplinary teams.
• Provide guidance, instruction and support to colleagues as required.
• Contribute to continuous improvement, innovation and safe work practices across the team.
