Job summary

DIALOG Fitzroy is seeking an experienced Mechanical Foreman to lead the Brisbane workshop and mentor the team in welding, fabrication, and pipe fitting. This hands-on leadership role emphasizes safety, quality, and delivering projects on time.

The successful candidate will have 3+ years trade experience with a Diploma/Certificate and at least 5 years in a leadership capacity, along with strong welding procedure knowledge and a commitment to developing the next generation of tradespeople.

Qualifications

• Trade Diploma or Certificate equivalent to Australian standards, with at least 3 years of full-time trade experience.
• At least 5 years' experience in a leadership or similar role.
• Extensive experience in structural steel fabrication and tank construction.
• Strong pipe fitting and welding experience, including weld inspection knowledge.
• Solid understanding of welding procedures, standards, and quality requirements.
• Proven track record leading workshop teams or supervising tradespeople.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Commitment to quality workmanship and workplace safety.

Responsibilities

• Train, mentor, and develop apprentices in welding and fabrication techniques.

This is a hands‑on leadership role suited to an experienced tradesperson with a strong background in structural steel fabrication, tank building, pipe fitting, and welding who enjoys mentoring others and creating a positive team.

More than just managing workshop operations, you'll play a key role in developing the next generation of tradespeople through training, coaching, and hands‑on support.

Key Responsibilities

• Strong pipe fitting and welding experience, including weld inspection knowledge.
• Excellent understanding of welding procedures, welding standards, and quality requirements.
• Proven experience leading workshop teams or supervising tradespeople.
• Demonstrated ability to teach, train, and mentor apprentices and tradesmen.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Commitment to quality workmanship and workplace safety.
