Job summary

Olympic Dam, part of BHP, seeks an experienced Mechanical Fitter for Hydro SX to deliver planned, predictive and breakdown maintenance. You will work within Hydromet and Solvent Extraction, supporting asset reliability and plant performance in a dynamic mining setting.

Based at Roxby Downs with a 7/7 day/night roster, on-site residential options and FIFO from Adelaide are available, with DIDO regional SA. The role requires Australian trade qualifications and strong SAP/tech fault-finding skills.

Qualifications

• Australian recognised trade qualifications in mechanical discipline.
• Sound computer skills; exposure to SAP.
• Experience in fault finding and continuous improvement.
• Hazardous area environment experience preferred.
• Understanding of Quality Assurance and WHS legislation.
• Previous shift work experience preferred.
• Proactive people management and leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

• Safely perform planned, preventive and breakdown maintenance across Hydromet and Solvent Extraction operations.
• Follow standards, procedures and safety requirements to achieve maintenance objectives.
• Provide mechanical trade expertise to support equipment reliability and plant performance.
• Collaborate with maintenance and production to identify and resolve equipment issues.
• Provide regular feedback to supervisors on progress, risks and priorities.
• Contribute to a culture of safety, accountability and teamwork.
• Support operational excellence through effective communication and collaboration.

We currently have a vacancy for a Mechanical Fitter - Hydro SX, reporting to the Supervisor, Surface Mechanical Maintenance Execution.

The Challenge Ahead

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join our Surface Mechanical Maintenance team at Olympic Dam. Working within the Hydromet and Solvent Extraction (Hydro SX) operations, you will play a key role in delivering both planned and breakdown maintenance activities to support safe, reliable and efficient plant performance.

Working closely with Maintenance and Production teams, you will contribute to maintaining critical assets, improving equipment reliability and supporting operational excellence across the Hydro SX area.

What You'll Bring To The Role

• Minimum Australian recognised trade level qualifications within a mechanical discipline
• Sound computer skills and ideally have exposure to SAP
• Experience in technical fault finding and continuous improvement activities
• Exposure to hazardous area environment would be preferred
• Understanding of Quality Assurance and current WHS legislation
• Previous shift work experience would be preferred
• Proactive people management skills and leadership abilities
