Job summary

Mars Incorporated in Asquith, Sydney NSW is seeking a skilled Mechanical Fitter to join our Snacking unit on rotating 12-hour day shifts. You will perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot equipment, and support factory startups.

Candidates should hold a recognised mechanical trade qualification (Cert 3), with FMCG or manufacturing experience, and be proficient with CMMS (SAP PM). Welding is a plus but not required; strong teamwork is essential.

Qualifications

• Trade-qualified mechanical fitter with relevant FMCG/manufacturing experience.
• Experience fault-finding, root-cause analysis, and quick issue resolution.
• Willingness to operate workshop tools and support factory start-ups.

Responsibilities

• Conduct preventative maintenance on machines to minimize downtime.
• Troubleshoot and repair manufacturing and utility equipment; address root causes.
• Complete paperwork for breakdowns, safety and quality per regs.
• Maintain safe, clean, and productive work environment.
• Collaborate with operations to optimize machines and processes.

Role Title: Mechanical Fitter
Location: Asquith, Sydney NSW
Hours: Rotating 12 hour Day Shift (6am-6pm)

(Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday) following week Thursday/Friday/Saturday
Reporting to: Maintenance Manager

Are you a skilled mechanical fitter seeking a new challenge? We are excited to offer you the opportunity to take on a pivotal role in our dynamic team as we strive for total reliability on our site.

What you’ll do:

• Conducting preventative maintenance on machines to minimize downtime and ensure optimal performance.
• Troubleshooting and repairing faulty manufacturing and utility equipment while identifying and addressing the root cause of the issue.
• Completing all necessary paperwork related to breakdowns, safety, and quality to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Demonstrating a sense of urgency to promptly address any potential faults and ensure all lines are fully operational.
• Adhering to our quality, housekeeping, safety, and cleaning procedures to maintain a safe and productive work environment.
• Collaborating with our dynamic team to improve and optimize our machines and processes.
• Recognised Mechanical Trade Qualification (Cert 3 Engineering Trade).
• Previous maintenance experience within a manufacturing environment (FMCG, food production or similar).
• Mechanical fault finding & problem-solving skills.
• Welding experience preferred but not required.
• Strong interpersonal skills with a service-oriented mindset—proactively collaborating with operations and cross-functional teams to resolve issues promptly.
• Ability to operate general workshop machine tools E.g. Lathe, mill, drill
• Prepare and support factory start up and shutdowns.
• Proficient in using Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), e.g. SAP PM.
