Job summary

ProFound People, Southwest Sydney, is seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join the maintenance team on a permanent basis. The role requires strong fault-finding, PPM and a hands-on approach within a manufacturing environment.

Ideal candidates will have experience with conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, bearings, motors, pneumatics, hydraulics, and reading engineering drawings. Welding/fabrication skills are advantageous; apply your continuous improvement mindset to minimise downtime.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of experience working as a Mechanical Fitter, Mechanical Technician, Maintenance Engineer or similar
• Relevant mechanical trade qualification, such as Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade (Fitting and Machining)
• Previous experience working within a manufacturing, production, FMCG or industrial environment
• Strong mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic skills
• Experience carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive breakdown repairs
• Strong knowledge of conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, bearings, motors, pneumatics and hydraulics
• Experience with mechanical installations, repairs, servicing and machinery modifications
• Able to read and interpret mechanical and engineering drawings
• Experience with welding, fabrication or machining would be advantageous
• A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement
• Good communication skills with the ability to work well in a collaborative environment

Responsibilities

• Carrying out planned preventative maintenance across manufacturing equipment and site machinery
• Responding to equipment breakdowns and carrying out mechanical fault-finding and repairs
• Maintaining and repairing conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, bearings, motors, pneumatic and hydraulic systems
• Carrying out machinery installations, modifications and mechanical improvements
• Assisting with commissioning and installation
• Identifying recurring mechanical issues and supporting continuous improvement initiatives
• Completing maintenance records and ensuring accurate documentation is maintained
• Working closely with production teams to minimise downtime and maximise plant performance
• Working in accordance with relevant health and safety procedures

SALARY – $115,000 - $125,000 per annum, dependent on experience

TYPE – Permanent

LOCATION – Southwest Sydney, NSW

My client is a leading manufacturer of specialist products. They are looking for an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join their maintenance team in Southwest Sydney on a permanent basis.
