Job summary

Weir Group Hazelmere in Perth, WA is seeking a Mechanical Fitter with exposure to welding to join our service centre. You will strip, repair, and reassemble Weir brand and non-OEM pumps, valves and cyclones, ensuring OEM specifications and performing balancing and pressure testing.

The role operates Monday to Friday from the Hazelmere site with occasional Saturday work by agreement. You will contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and support mine shutdowns as required, while adhering

Qualifications

• Must have Certificate III in Mechanical Engineering/Fitting & Turning.
• Experience as a Mechanical Fitter in a workshop or onsite environment.
• Valid Driver’s License and Australian Work Rights.

Responsibilities

• Safety First: zero harm culture.
• Strip, repair, and reassemble pumps, valves, cyclones to OEM specs including balancing and pressure testing.
• Work from Perth Hazelmere Service Centre; standard Monday–Friday roster with overtime options.
• Provide onsite support during mine shutdowns as part of the service crew.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and Weir Production System initiatives.

Mechanical Fitter

Weir Group Hazelmere, WA Onsite

We are looking for a Mechanical Fitter with exposure to welding to join our Perth Service Centre. The role will have you working on all Weir brand equipment and non-OEM equipment in pumps, valves and cyclones. You will be responsible and able to strip pumps from drawings/manuals, carry out measuring and reassemble to OEM specifications, including balancing, pressure testing and completing final inspection reports.

What you'll do

• Safety First: Demonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviors in support of our drive towards developing a world-class safety culture.
• Equipment Maintenance and Repair: Strip, repair, and reassemble Weir brand and non-OEM pumps, valves, and cyclones according to OEM specifications, including balancing, pressure testing, and completing final inspection reports.
• Workshop Operations: Work primarily from the Perth Hazelmere Service Centre on a Monday to Friday roster (6:30am-2:45pm Mon-Thurs, 6:30am-12:30pm Fri) with options for overtime and occasional Saturday work by agreement.
• Site Support: Provide onsite support during mine shutdowns as part of the site service crew when required, assisting with equipment maintenance and repairs.
• Continuous Improvement: Actively participate in implementing the Weir Production System and recommend improvements to products, services, and procedures to enhance quality and efficiency.

What you'll bring

Must-haves:

• Certificate III in Mechanical Engineering/Fitting & Turning
• Experience as a Mechanical Fitter in a workshop or onsite environment
• Valid Driver’s License
• Australian Work Rights

Nice-to-haves:

• Welding experience
• High Risk forklift ticket, overhead crane, and dogging tickets
• Experience working on pumps, cyclones, valves, and related equipment
• Willingness to travel occasionally to mine sites for shutdown support
