Job summary

Weir Minerals in Townsville is seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter to repair, maintain and report on pumps delivered to the service centre and customer sites. The role includes leading a team of fitters and supporting mine shutdowns, with a Monday–Friday roster and early start times.

Cert III in Mechanical Eng/Fitting is required, along with workshop and site experience, and a current drivers licence. An overhead crane ticket is highly desirable; training and progression opportunities are

Qualifications

• Experience in mechanical fitting in a workshop and onsite environments.
• Ability to lead and mentor a team of fitters.
• Solid written and verbal communication skills.
• Current Drivers Licence is required.
• Overhead crane & doggers ticket is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Strip, maintain, repair and report on customer pumps at the Townsville Service Centre and on customer sites.
• Provide informed recommendations to improve product performance and workshop processes.
• Play an active role in implementing the Weir Production System within the Rebuild Centre.
• Support mine shutdowns by attending customer sites when required.

We are searching for an experienced Mechanical Fitter to assist with repairing and maintaining products delivered to the Service Centre and in Customer operations.

Offering a family friendly Monday to Friday roster and much more:

Monday - Thursday 6am - 2.30pm

Friday 5am - 11am

Overtime available through the week

All uniforms, tools and PPE provided.

Key Responsibilities:

Safety First:Demonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviours in support of our drive towards developing a world class safety culture.

Stripping, maintaining, repairing and reporting on customer pumps both in the Townsville Service Centre and occasionally at customer operations

Providing informed recommendations to enhance product performance, service quality and workshop processes

Playing an active role in implementing the Weir Production System within the Rebuild Centre

Supporting mine shutdowns by attending customer sites when required

What you'll bring
