Job summary

Kinexus in Perth, WA is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to provide engineering knowledge and technical support across a major naval sustainment program, focusing on support systems and waterfront activities.

You will contribute to establishing and managing support systems for submarine sustainment, ensuring safety, compliance and practical implementation. The role is based in Perth but may involve waterfront locations, working autonomously or in a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline.

Responsibilities

• Provide mechanical engineering support across support systems and waterfront activities.
• Lead small engineering tasks and projects with focus on delivery, safety and quality.
• Perform engineering calculations, analysis, modelling and component/sub-system design.
• Troubleshoot technical issues during commissioning, integration and sustainment activities.
• Assess parts substitutions, obsolescence issues and equivalency between US, UK and Australian standards.
• Prepare engineering documentation including specifications, sketches, test procedures, calculations and reports.
• Review artefacts for completeness and controlled data.
• Support management and configuration of support system assets and documentation.
• Coordinate with engineering, production, procurement, asset management and external design organisations.
• Support planning and scheduling to ensure equipment availability for operations.
• Provide engineering support to procurement and external suppliers within approved authorities.
• Develop and maintain engineering metrics and reporting on asset status.
• Ensure activities comply with safety, security, ITAR, configuration and governance requirements.
• Support continuous improvement across sustainment processes.
