Job summary

Airservices Australia is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join the Project Engineering Team. You will contribute to design, construction and refurbishment of critical aviation facilities such as Fire Stations, Control Towers and Air Traffic Service Centres.

The role involves coordinating with external design consultants, witness testing and acceptance events, and providing expert input across the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• 5+ years’ experience in mechanical building services engineering
• State-based engineering registration (e.g. RPEQ or RPEV), or the ability to obtain registration.
• Strong design knowledge across HVAC, ventilation, heating, and associated systems
• Familiarity with additional mechanical plant including air compressors, generators, fuel systems, and Building Management Systems (BMS)
• Familiarity across high reliability sectors including data centres, defence, and healthcare
• Working knowledge of the BCA, NCC, and relevant Australian Standards
• Experience preparing and reviewing mechanical designs, technical specifications, and engineering documentation.
• Experience in testing, commissioning, and deployment of mechanical systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide input to medium-to-major mechanical building services projects from concept through construction.
• Review concept, schematic, and detail designs with external design consultants.
• Contribute to design reviews and coordinate feedback for Airservices.
• Support project managers in planning scope, budget, and program requirements.
• Provide input to senior management on project status, risks and dependencies.
• Undertake construction inspections to verify design and build compliance.
• Attend site and user acceptance tests and support commissioning.
