Job summary

Mineral Technologies, a Downer company, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our Carrara, QLD team. You will deliver detailed mechanical design deliverables to support project objectives, and prepare specifications, scopes of work and MTOs for project delivery.

We have an exciting and challenging opportunity for a suitably qualified and experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our Mineral Technologies business located Carrara QLD

About the Role

The Mechanical Engineer will provide detailed engineering work to assist Project Leads, Lead engineers and the broader design teams by producing mechanical design deliverables to support the required project objectives. Responsible for detailed engineering design in accordance with relevant standards and design principles.

The successful incumbent can envision themselves attending to duties such as:

• Provide detailed engineering work to assist Project Leads, Lead engineers and the broader design teams by producing mechanical design deliverables to support the required project objectives. Responsible for detailed engineering design in accordance with relevant standards and design principles
• Prepare technical documentation, such as specifications, scopes of work and Material Take-Offs (MTOs) to support the mechanical design and delivery of projects
• Assist Lead engineers and discipline engineers in developing project specific engineering design deliverables
• Contribute to the development of technical design reports, and ensure project design deliverables meet customer requirements, minimum design standards and quality standards
• Assist project managers with all facets of project engineering activities from project cost control, project scheduling, specification, procurement, inspecting, expediting, construction and commissioning

About You

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering
• 2-5 years' experience within mining, minerals processing, heavy industry or related sectors
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and technical skills
• High attention to detail and commitment to quality outcomes
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
• Ability to communicate effectively with clients, contractors and project teams
• Understanding of engineering safety systems and relevant legislation
• Experience supporting construction and commissioning activities is advantageous
• Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally
