Job summary

ALSTOM Gruppe is recruiting for Mechanical Fitter or Electrician roles in Ballarat, Victoria. You will perform mechanical and electrical installations to assemble railway trains, working with a production team and supporting continuous improvement efforts.

Qualified candidates with relevant trade certificates and manufacturing experience are encouraged to apply. The role involves reading technical docs, using hand and power tools, and operating lifting equipment.

Qualifications

• Must hold a relevant Mechanical Trade qualification or Certificate IV in Aero skills/mechanical maintenance.
• Certificate III in Electrotechnology or related electrical qualifications.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.

We are in ramp up stage which means multiple opportunities to join others as you and the team embark on pivotal journey for our local community and state as aMechanical Fitter or Electrician. We are seeking interest from individuals who hold a relevant Mechanical Trade qualification, Certificate IV in Aero skills/mechanical maintenance or Cert III in Electrotechnology to join our team at our Ballarat. Reporting to one of our Production Supervisors, this role would see you perform all Mechanical & Electrical installations to complete the assembly of the train, where no day will be the same, but you will have plenty of opportunities to progress through the levels if you wish.

We’ll look to you for:

• Read, apply technical documentation supplied.
• Install and assemble railway vehicle components using standard work procedures, hand & power tools.
• Perform basic testing and support troubleshooting and maintenance of mechanical & electrical systems and components installed in the railway car.
• Use and manipulate lifting and transporting devices such as overhead cranes to install, replace and align subassemblies and components.
• Perform self-Inspection of railway car components to identify defects and ensure quality.
• Remove and replace defective parts and components.
• Proficiently cross reference technical documents and highlight any discrepancies to the supervisor.
• Work closely with support functions to identify and propose suggestions for continuous improvement.
• Organize work instruction documents, tools and railway car parts daily.

All about you

Cert III in Engineering - Mechanical, Certificate IV in Aero skills/mechanical maintenance OR Cert III in Electrotechnology

• Experience within the manufacturing environment would be advantageous
• Ability to be able to interpret technical diagrams & drawings
• High risk tickets or licences (EWP, working at heights etc) would be advantageous (but not mandatory)
