Job summary

The client, a global engineering and construction business, seeks a Senior Mechanical Designer for Perth-based roles on major iron ore projects. You will deliver mechanical design solutions, develop 3D models, and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to meet safety and project requirements.

Candidates would typically have 10+ years in mining design, with at least 2 continuous years on iron ore projects in the last 5 years, and strong experience producing design packages.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of mechanical design experience in the mining/resources sector.
• 2 continuous years on a major iron ore project within the last 5 years.
• Proven design delivery on large-scale iron ore processing, materials handling, crushing, conveying, screening, stockyard, port, rail or fixed plant projects.
• Strong understanding of project delivery in operating mine site environments.
• Experience producing detailed mechanical design packages and documentation.
• Proficiency with industry-standard design software and 3D modelling tools.
• Strong coordination and stakeholder engagement in multidisciplinary teams.

Our client is a global engineering and construction business with a long track record delivering major mining and resources projects. Their Perth team works on some of the largest iron ore infrastructure in the country. They have a collaborative culture that values big-picture thinking and practical engineering solutions.

Your New Role

Our client has multiple 12-month contract positions for Mechanical Designers who have spent serious time on iron ore projects and want to stay at the heart of major project delivery. You'll be based in the Perth CBD, working within multidisciplinary engineering teams on mining infrastructure design.

• Develop and deliver mechanical design solutions across major iron ore and mining infrastructure projects
• Produce detailed mechanical design packages and associated documentation
• Build and maintain 3D models using industry-standard design software
• Work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to coordinate design across disciplines
• Make sure designs meet project, operational and safety requirements
• Support design for processing, materials handling, crushing, conveying, screening, stockyard, port, rail or fixed plant infrastructure
• Engage with project stakeholders throughout design delivery

About You

We Are Seeking Candidates With

• 10+ years of mechanical design experience in the mining and resources sector
• At least 2 continuous years on a major iron ore project within the last 5 years
• Proven design delivery on large-scale iron ore processing, materials handling, crushing, conveying, screening, stockyard, port, rail or fixed plant projects
• A strong understanding of project delivery in operating mine site environments
• Experience producing detailed mechanical design packages and documentation
• Proficiency with industry-standard design software and 3D modelling tools
• Strong coordination and stakeholder engagement skills in multidisciplinary teams

Highly Regarded

• Pilbara iron ore project experience
• Major project work with operators such as Rio Tinto, BHP, FMG, Roy Hill or Mineral Resources
• Brownfield expansion and sustaining capital programs
• Bulk materials handling systems and fixed plant processing facilities
• Construction support or site-based project experience

Please note that candidates who can't show at least 2 continuous years of major iron ore project experience within the last 5 years are unlikely to be considered.
