Job summary

Fraser Coast Regional Council is seeking a trade-qualified Mechanic to join the Fleet team in Maryborough. This hands-on role involves maintenance and repairs on a diverse fleet of vehicles, trucks and plant equipment, both in the workshop and in the field, to ensure reliability, safety and availability.

You will work as part of a collaborative team, mentoring apprentices where needed and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Recognised Mechanical Trade Certificate (AQF Level III)
• Valid Queensland C Class Driver Licence
• General Construction Induction (White Card)
• Demonstrated experience maintaining and repairing plant, trucks and heavy equipment
• Skills in fitting, welding and machining
• Strong understanding of WHS requirements and safe work practices
• Ability to use work management systems and complete documentation accurately
• Effective communication and teamwork skills

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, servicing and repairs on Council vehicles, trucks and plant equipment
• Diagnose faults and identify mechanical issues to minimise fleet downtime
• Complete workshop and field-based maintenance activities safely and efficiently
• Maintain accurate work records using Council's maintenance management systems
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to team planning activities
• Assist with mentoring apprentices and supporting team members where required

What We Are Looking For

We are seeking a trade-qualified Mechanic to join our Fleet team.
