Job summary

Tallangatta Secondary College, a small country coeducational secondary college located 40 kilometres southeast of Wodonga, seeks a classroom teacher. The role focuses on planning, preparation and teaching to achieve specific student outcomes and may include duties beyond the classroom as experience grows.

The school supports professional learning and collaboration through PLCs and uses Effective Teaching Techniques (ETT) as its instructional model.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated knowledge of the curriculum and the ability to integrate literacy and numeracy.
• Experience planning for and implementing high-impact teaching strategies guided by how students learn, and evaluating impact on student growth.
• Experience in monitoring and assessing student learning, and using data to inform teaching with constructive feedback to students and parents.
• Interpersonal and communication skills with a track record of collaborating with students, parents, colleagues and the community to support student learning, wellbeing and engagement.
• Behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values and commitment to reflective practice and ongoing professional learning.

Responsibilities

• Direct teaching of groups and individual students.
• Contribute to development, implementation and evaluation of curriculum areas or school programs.
• Undertake other classroom teaching related and organizational duties as directed by the School Principal.
• Participate in parent/teacher meetings, staff meetings, camps and excursions.
• Undertake other non-teaching supervisory duties as required.
