Lead maternity care where your experience can make a real difference. As Midwifery Unit Manager at Rockhampton Hospital, you'll lead a busy maternity service supporting around 1,400 births each year.

About us:

Rockhampton Hospital is the main referral hospital for Central Queensland, with our Maternity Service supporting around 1,400 births each year. We provide Level 4 maternity and special care nursery services, alongside Midwifery Group Practice and the Gumma Gundoo model of care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and families.

Our team is focused on providing safe, respectful and woman-centred care while giving midwives the support and opportunity to work to their full scope of practice.

About the role:

This is an opportunity to lead one of Central Queensland's key maternity services and make a genuine impact on the experience of women, families and the midwives who care for them.

As Midwifery Unit Manager, you'll lead the day-to-day operation of Rockhampton's Maternity Unit, working alongside experienced clinical and operational leaders.

You'll have the opportunity to:

• lead and support a multidisciplinary maternity team
• create a positive workplace where midwives can grow and work to their full scope
• oversee staffing, rostering, resources and budgets
• strengthen woman-centred and midwifery-led models of care
• drive improvements in safety, quality and the experience of women and families

The role is predominantly day shift and is a fixed-term, full-time opportunity.

About you:

You're an experienced Registered Midwife who enjoys leading people as much as providing great maternity care. You know how to bring a team together, make sound decisions in a busy environment and balance clinical priorities with the practical realities of running a service.

You'll bring:

• current registration as a Registered Midwife with the NMBA
• advanced midwifery knowledge and strong clinical judgement
• experience leading teams and managing maternity unit operations
• confidence with workforce planning, rostering, resources and budgets
• a commitment to culturally safe, evidence-based and woman-centred care
• strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships across a multidisciplinary team.

Most importantly, you'll be a leader who supports their people, encourages new ideas and wants to help shape a maternity service that women, families and staff can feel confident in.

What we offer:

Total remuneration value of up to $14,517 p.m. is comprised of:

• An hourly rate between $70.92 - $77.00 p.h.
• 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
• 17.5% leave loading
