Job summary

Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service invites applications for a Registered Midwife to join the Rockhampton maternity team, delivering safe, high-quality care within a regional referral service. You will engage in a broad scope of practice including waterbirth, triage, postnatal home visits, and rural/remote care.

Applicants should hold current AHPRA registration as RM or RN with a practising certificate; dual RM/RN registration is preferred.

Qualifications

• Current registration as a Registered Midwife or Registered Nurse with AHPRA and a current practising certificate.
• Dual Registered Nurse/Registered Midwife registration is preferred.
• Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team and supervise Enrolled Nurses and Assistants in Nursing.

About us

Rockhampton Hospital is the major referral hospital for Central Queensland, providing maternity care to women and families from Rockhampton and communities across the region, including women requiring more complex care.

A CSCF level 4 maternity service, the unit has 18 beds, five private birthing suites and a neonatal nursery to offer care across pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period. The service includes Midwifery Group Practice (MGP) to support continuity of care and enable midwives to build strong, ongoing connections with women and families.

The maternity team also works closely with Gumma Gundoo, the local First Nations maternity service, to provide culturally appropriate care and support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and families.

About the role

As a Registered Midwife at Rockhampton Hospital, you'll be part of a multidisciplinary maternity team delivering safe, high-quality care through a regional referral service supporting women and families from across Central Queensland. You'll have opportunities to broaden your clinical experience and develop skills across waterbirth, maternity triage, postnatal home visiting, rural and remote care, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander maternity care.

About you

You are a compassionate and motivated midwife with the clinical knowledge and skills to assess, plan, implement and evaluate safe, high-quality maternity care. You'll bring strong communication and interpersonal skills, work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and confidently support the delegation and supervision of Enrolled Nurses and Assistants in Nursing.

You are committed to evidence-based practice, continuous quality improvement and developing your capability throughout your midwifery career. Current registration as a Registered Midwife or Registered Nurse with AHPRA and a current practising certificate are mandatory. The ability to work to full scope of midwifery practice will be highly regarded, with dual Registered Nurse/Registered Midwife registration preferred.

What we offer

Total remuneration value of up to $128,480 p.a. is comprised of:

• An hourly rate between $44.27 - $56.76 p.h.
• 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
• 17.5% leave loading
