Job summary

Hanwha Defence Australia at Avalon Airport, VIC, is seeking a meticulous Material Planner to join our Production Control team. You will coordinate material availability to support production schedules in a low-volume manufacturing environment, working with Production Planning, Supply Chain, Warehouse and Operations to anticipate constraints and optimise outcomes.

The role requires ERP/MRP experience (SAP S/4HANA ideal), strong data analysis, advanced Excel, and stakeholder management.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Engineering or related field.
  • APICS CPIM or CSCP certification desirable.
  • Strong understanding of ERP and MRP planning principles.
  • Knowledge of production scheduling, inventory management and supply chain processes.

Responsibilities

  • Analyse inventory levels, incoming materials and kitting requirements to support production schedules.
  • Coordinate material supply priorities between Warehouse, Production and Supply Chain teams.
  • Monitor material availability and proactively elevate risks or shortages.
  • Collaborate with Production Planners to optimise weekly production plans and outputs.
  • Provide clear visibility to operational teams regarding material status, production impacts and mitigation strategies.
  • Support sequencing and scheduling activities within a manufacturing assembly environment.
  • Prepare reports, data analysis and planning metrics to support operational decision-making.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across planning and material management processes.

Join a Growing Advanced Manufacturing Team

We are seeking a highly organised and analytical Material Planner to join our Production Control team. This role plays a critical part in ensuring materials are available to support production schedules within a complex, low-volume manufacturing environment.

Working closely with Production Planning, Supply Chain, Warehouse and Operations teams, you will coordinate material supply activities, identify potential constraints, and help optimise production outcomes through effective planning and stakeholder management.

About the Role

As a Material Planner, you will be responsible for coordinating material availability and supply to support production requirements, ensuring efficient use of resources while maintaining delivery commitments.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

Experience
  • Previous experience in Material Planning, Production Planning or Supply Chain Planning.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing or assembly environment.
  • Strong ERP/MRP systems experience, ideally SAP S/4HANA or similar platforms.
  • Experience coordinating multiple stakeholders across production, warehousing and supply chain functions.
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities and resolve operational challenges.
Skills & Qualifications
  • Diploma or Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Engineering or a related discipline (highly regarded).
  • APICS certification such as CPIM or CSCP is desirable.
  • Strong understanding of ERP and MRP planning principles.
  • Knowledge of production scheduling, inventory management and supply chain processes.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and data analysis skills.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organisational and analytical skills.
  • Flexible, proactive and adaptable approach to work.
