Job summary

Western Truck Group in Mackay is seeking an experienced Master Heavy Vehicle Technician to join our modern Mackay workshop. You will tackle complex diagnostics and repairs across Volvo, Mack, UD and Isuzu products, mentor apprentices, and support workshop performance and safety standards.

Reporting to the Workshop Supervisor, you will document repairs, stay current with OEM training, and contribute to a high-performing team focused on quality and customer service.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in heavy vehicle diagnostics, repairs and maintenance.
• Advanced fault-finding across mechanical and electrical systems.
• Mentoring and coaching of apprentices and technicians.
• Strong knowledge of warranty requirements and workshop quality standards.
• Safe work practices and continuous improvement mindset.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance across heavy vehicle systems.

We're seeking an experienced Master Heavy Vehicle Technician to join our team in Paget, Mackay. This is an opportunity to work alongside a highly skilled and supportive team in a modern workshop environment, tackling complex diagnostics and repairs across Volvo, Mack, UD and Isuzu products. You'll play a key role in troubleshooting technical challenges, mentoring apprentices and technicians, and helping drive workshop performance, quality, and safety standards.

Reporting to the Workshop Supervisor, you'll provide expert technical support while contributing to the development of others and the continued success of the workshop.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform advanced diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance across heavy vehicle systems.


• Provide expert technical guidance and support on complex fault-finding, repair strategies, and quality outcomes.


• Complete warranty repairs in accordance with manufacturer requirements.


• Accurately document repair and diagnostic information.


• Maintain current product and technical knowledge through ongoing training and development.


• Conduct final quality checks, road tests, and inspections to ensure repairs meet safety and manufacturer standards.


• Support workshop productivity, continuous improvement initiatives, and a positive team culture.

Other Skills and/or Experience

• Extensive experience in heavy vehicle diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance.


• Advanced fault-finding and diagnostic capability across mechanical and electrical systems.


• Strong mentoring and coaching skills.


• Solid understanding of manufacturer warranty requirements and workshop quality standards.


• Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and commitment to safety.


• Ability to work autonomously while contributing to a collaborative, high-performing team environment.


• Isuzu, Volvo, Mack experience highly regarded.
