Job description

What's the role?

This role is responsible for driving the subscriber engagement and retention strategy across mastheads to achieve volume and revenue growth aspirations for our subscriptions business. Responsible for building an ‘engagement and retention engine’ that drives habitual connection, reduces churn and maximises customer lifetime value.

There will be a strong emphasis on driving app usage and digital product adoption, alongside TDD and operations. This role resides in the Engagement and Retention team within the Subscriptions Growth division at NCA.

This role can be based at our Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane office.
Responsibilities
  • Support and execute the long-term subscription retention vision, focusing on building early healthy consumer habits (onboarding/reboarding) and supporting digital product launches to drive adoption.
  • Design and run experimentation roadmaps, utilizing continuous A/B testing, data insights, and optimising the online cancellation journey UX to combat customer attrition and uncover growth opportunities.
  • Identify high-risk churn segments to create and execute automated, personalised, and multi-channel targeted communication plans that build habitual subscriber connection.
  • Partner closely with wider consumer marketing, editorial, technology, operations, and content teams to identify retention gaps and deliver cohesive go-to-market strategies.
  • Closely monitor, optimise, and report on campaign performance, daily active trends, and attrition metrics to ensure all performance targets are met.
Who are you?
  • Proven experience driving engagement, retention, and subscription growth through data-driven marketing, consumer strategies, and targeted contact plans.
  • Strong financial literacy (P&L ownership) combined with data-driven problem-solving frameworks to translate complex data into bottom-line impact.
  • Highly tech-savvy and detail-oriented, with hands‑on proficiency in Miro, Salesforce, Adobe Analytics, and complex data sets.
  • Adept at project management, mentoring team members, and managing diverse stakeholders with the ability to collaborate, evaluate, and challenge recommendations.
  • A curious, creative, and customer‑centric thinker who thrives in fast‑paced environments, navigating challenges and Go-To-Market (GTM) opportunities with excellent communication skills.
