Job summary

The Department of Transport and Planning (DTP) in Melbourne–CBD is seeking a Project Officer on a fixed-term basis to support maritime emergency coordination. The role focuses on training, capability development for the State Response Team, and management of a Microsoft-based SRT database.

The position backfills for 6 months and involves liaising with contractors to ensure readiness and deployment of response resources, with occasional travel and strict pre-employment checks.

Qualifications

• A relevant tertiary qualification is desirable.
• Experience working in a marine environment is desirable.
• Certificate IV or demonstrated experience in coordination/development of training and exercise programs, preferably in a maritime environment (desirable).

Responsibilities

• Coordinate training and capability development for Victoria's State Response Team (SRT).
• Liaise with DTP contractors to ensure training materials and response equipment are maintained to required standards.
• Deliver projects to develop a Microsoft-based State Response Team database and establish doctrine to support rapid activation and deployment of the SRT.
