Job summary

DP World in Karumba, QLD, is seeking a Mechanical Fitter to join our marine operations on a FIFO basis. You will report to the Chief Engineer and be involved in maintaining ship equipment, operating cargo machinery, and supporting deck and cargo discharge activities.

The role requires formal fitter qualifications, AMSA medical, and cargo systems experience. The position is offered as a casual contract with a view to permanency, with salary plus super and a flexible roster.

Qualifications

• AMSA medical certificate mandatory or ability to obtain one.
• GPH Certificate of Competency required.
• Mechanical Fitter Trade Qualification mandatory.
• MSIC card or ability to hold one.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair ship equipment.
• Operate cargo machinery and conveyors.
• Assist deck with line handling and cargo discharge.
• Know cargo handling equipment and be trained in operation.
• Follow cargo handling regulations and safety policies.
• Carry out duties as directed by the Chief Engineer.
• Maintain safe work practices and stock of maintenance materials.
• Assist with cargo discharge and deck operations when required.
• Learn basic seaman’s techniques and be part of crew during operations.
• Participate in drills and safety exercises as required.
