Job summary

Gilmour Space Technologies is seeking a Manufacturing Technician - Avionics to join our team at our Yatala facility between Brisbane and the Gold Coast. The role involves assembling and testing avionics and electrical systems for rocket tech, with emphasis on safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in high reliability manufacturing, excellent communication skills and a strong interest in advancing the space industry.

Responsibilities

• Electronic / Electrical assembly
• System modification and installation of electrical / avionics systems
• Electrical circuit fault finding and diagnosis
• Mechanical enclosure / component assembly
• Harness manufacturing
• High level soldering skills to a PCB level
• Work closely with Engineers to assemble prototype products
• Conduct and record product tests and diagnostic activities
• Use of power tools, manual handling
• Ensure all work complies with procedures and engineering requirements
• Identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, efficiency and cost
• Maintain relationships with Engineering, Planning, Quality and Manufacturing teams
• Other duties as requested by Management

• Electronic / Electrical assembly
• System modification and installation of electrical / avionics systems
• Electrical circuit fault finding and diagnosis
• Mechanical enclosure / component assembly
• Harness manufacturing
• High level soldering skills to a PCB level
• Work closely with Engineers to assemble prototype products based on schematic diagrams; accurately mark changes when instructions vary and report changes
• Conduct and record product tests and diagnostic activities to support the production process
• Use of power tools, manual handling
• Ensure all work complies with company procedures, engineering requirements and regulatory obligations
• Identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, efficiency and cost
• Maintain effective working relationships with Engineering, Planning, Quality and Manufacturing teams
• Other duties as requested by Management

Minimum Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

• 3+ years of experience in a high reliability and quality manufacturing operating environment, ideally within the space / aerospace industry
• Extensive knowledge of avionics and electrical systems
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent time management, interpersonal and organisational skills.
• Have a passion for advancing the commercial space industry

Desired Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

• Knowledge of temperature, pressure, and flow measurement devices, mechanical and electrical systems, and propulsion systems
• Skill in operating and manipulating machinery with great manual dexterity
• Experience with forklifts, cranes, and heavy equipment
• Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) with Engineering and Production
• Ability to rapidly adapt to changes in direction while working in a fast-paced, challenging work environment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
• Experience with configuration management, non-conformance reporting, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement.
• NV1 Security Clearance eligible preferred
