Job summary

Gilmour Space Technologies is seeking a Manufacturing Technician - Electrical to join our advanced rocket production team. The role is based at our facility between Brisbane and the Gold Coast, Australia, supporting electronic and electrical assembly, test and integration of propulsion components.

You will perform electrical assembly, fault diagnosis, cable harnessing, and small panel fabrication, while maintaining safety, quality, and documentation standards with engineers and production staff.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in a high reliability manufacturing environment, preferably aerospace.
• Fundamental knowledge of mechatronic, battery, avionic or electrical systems.

Responsibilities

• Electronic / Electrical assembly.
• Mechanical enclosure / component assembly.
• Electrical circuit fault finding and diagnosis.
• Assemble cables, hand soldering, or assemble prototype products from schematics.
• Install field wiring and termination of motors, sensors, and smart devices.
• Conduct and record product tests and diagnostics.
• Build small control panels for basic machine automation.
• Use power tools and manual handling.
• Ensure compliance with procedures, engineering requirements and regs.
• Identify safety, quality, efficiency and cost improvements.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Planning, Quality and Manufacturing.

• Electronic / Electrical assembly

• Electrical circuit fault finding and diagnosis
• Assemble cables, conduct hand soldering, or assemble prototype products based on schematic diagrams; accurately mark changes when instructions vary
• Install field wiring and termination of motors, sensors, and smart devices
• Conduct and record product tests and diagnostic activities to support the production process
• Build small control panels for basic machine automation
• Use of power tools, manual handling
• Ensure all work complies with company procedures, engineering requirements and regulatory obligations
• Identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, efficiency and cost
• Maintain effective working relationships with Engineering, Planning, Quality and Manufacturing teams
• Other duties as requested by Management

Minimum Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

• 2+ years of experience in a high reliability and quality manufacturing operating environment, ideally within the aerospace industry
• Fundamental knowledge of mechatronic, battery, avionic or electrical systems

Desired Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

• Knowledge of temperature, pressure, and flow measurement devices, mechanical and electrical systems, and propulsion systems
• Skill in operating and manipulating machinery with great manual dexterity
• Experience with forklifts, cranes, and heavy equipment
• Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) with Engineering and Production
• Ability to rapidly adapt to changes in direction while working in a fast‑paced, challenging work environment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
• Experience with configuration management, non‑conformance reporting, root‑cause analysis, and continuous improvement.
• NV1 Security Clearance eligible preferred
