Job summary

The University of Western Australia invites a proactive leader to steer the Student Engagement team, driving onboarding, orientation and student voice initiatives that foster belonging and success.

You will use insights and partnerships to develop programs, provide strategic university-wide guidance, and oversee governance and resource management to maximise impact. This is a full-time, ongoing role based in Perth with a focus on inclusion and student experience.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated success leading and developing high-performing teams, fostering a collaborative, service‑focused culture and driving continuous improvement.
• Significant experience designing, implementing and evaluating large-scale student engagement, orientation, or student voice initiatives that deliver measurable outcomes.
• Proven ability to build strong stakeholder partnerships, influence senior leaders and contribute to organisation‑wide strategy, policy and service improvement.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and project leadership capabilities, with experience using evidence, feedback and performance measures to enhance service effectiveness.
• Relevant postgraduate qualifications and substantial leadership experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and professional experience.

• Full-time (1.0 FTE) appointment on an ongoing basis.
• Interviews will be held week commencing 26 th October.
• Base salary range: $139,660 – $147,783 p.a. (pro-rata) plus 17% superannuation.

The Student Engagement and Belonging Division sits within UWA's Directorate of Student Life and Community and plays a vital role in delivering a world‑class student experience. The team leads university‑wide orientation, transition and engagement initiatives, supports international students, strengthens student leadership and partnership opportunities, and fosters inclusion, belonging and community connection across the University. The division works closely with students, academic areas, residential colleges, student associations and key stakeholders to create an engaging, welcoming and culturally safe university environment.
