You will lead the development and delivery of education and training courses for surgeons and those on the surgical training pathway. You will oversee a national program of skills-based courses, ensuring they are well planned, delivered to a high standard and regularly reviewed to meet the needs of RACS members.
In this role, you will manage a large, multidisciplinary team and provide strategic input to senior leaders on course planning, budgets and future opportunities. The role also includes providing high-level support to several committees and working groups, helping them with both strategic and operational planning. This is a hands‑on leadership role that suits someone who enjoys working across education delivery, people management, stakeholder engagement and governance.
The successful person can be based out of one of our Australian offices.
You will lead the Skills Training team within the Pathways to Fellowship portfolio. The team includes program coordinators, nurse coordinators and operations staff who work closely with surgeons, educators and volunteers across Australia and New Zealand.
The team is responsible for delivering nationally recognised skills courses and providing secretariat support to a number of established committees. Collaboration is central to how the team works, with strong connections across RACS and with external partners, specialty societies and international colleges.
You are an experienced people leader who is comfortable managing complex programs in a professional, member‑based or education‑focused environment. You bring a practical approach to planning, budgeting and delivery, and are confident working with senior stakeholders, committees and volunteers.
- Experience managing and leading a team
- Strong skills in budget development and financial oversight
- Significant experience working with a wide range of stakeholders, including senior leaders and external partners
- Well‑developed negotiation and influencing skills
- Experience delivering education or training programs in a complex organisation (health, education or membership‑based environments will be well regarded)
A tertiary qualification in education, business administration or a related field, or equivalent experience, will support your success in this role.
