Job summary

Queensland Corrective Services is seeking a Team Leader for the leadership stream to guide and coach a frontline team, ensuring compliance with legislation, policy and directives. You will drive governance, quality assurance and stakeholder engagement while fostering a learning environment that supports staff development.

The role requires capacity to respond to pressure, adapt to changing events and maintain high performance under demanding conditions.

Qualifications

• Experience leading and managing a team including applying human resource management processes.
• Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, respond to new and unexpected events and escalate appropriately.
• Experience in the criminal justice environment or similar work that shows rapid knowledge acquisition of legislation, policy and practice directives.
• Ability to manage governance and oversight systems, and quality assurance.
• Ability to build and manage relationships with peers, team members and external stakeholders.
• Ability to promote and maintain a learning environment where staff development is valued.

Job description

The most suitable applicant will demonstrate their applied knowledge, skills and experiences against these essential role requirements of the Team leader leadership stream:

• Experience and demonstrated skill leading and managing a team including the application of human resource management processes
• Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, respond to new and unexpected events and appropriately escal
• Experience in the criminal justice environment including the interpretation and application of legislation, policy and practice directives in an operational environment is preferable or alternatively possess a similar work experience that demonstrates your ability to rapidly acquire this knowledge
• Ability to manage governance and oversight systems, and experience in quality assurance
• Ability to build and manage relationships with peers, team members, internal and external stakeholders
• Ability to promote and maintain a learning environment where staff development is valued and supported and seen as an integral feature of the work environment
