Harmony Gold Mining Company Limited is seeking a Manager Projects (Mining) to lead a portfolio of mining development projects from feasibility through funding and into early works and execution. The role is a Brisbane-based permanent position with PNG travel required, typically monthly, on a 9 days on / 5 days off cycle; some work-from-home days are possible in Brisbane.

About the client:

Harmony is the largest gold producer by volume in South Africa and is a significant operator of gold tailings retreatment facilities. In Papua New Guinea, Harmony owns and operates the Hidden Valley mine and owns 50% of the Tier 1 Wafi-Golpu copper-gold project. In Australia, Harmony owns the high-grade CSA copper mine in Cobar, NSW and is constructing the Eva Copper Mine in Cloncurry, QLD with first production targeted for the second half of the 2028 calendar year. These assets are supported by the Harmony Australasia regional corporate office located in Milton, Brisbane.

The role:

This is a permanent position working out of Harmony Australasia Brisbane office on a 5/2 roster however we need someone who can travel to PNG at least once per month likely on a 9 days on 5 days off rotation. When in Brisbane there is some flexibility to work from home 1 or 2 days per week.

The Manager Projects (Mining) will take the lead on a range of mining development projects from feasibility and see them through to funding, and then early works / execution (end to end). The projects include sustaining capital projects and major growth projects across all aspects including mining, process plant, surface and underground infrastructure and services. We think a candidate with a strong background in mechanical / processing will be a strong fit.

Skills and experience required:

• Relevant tertiary qualifications
• Significant experience across resources / mining projects (preferred) or other related heavy industries managing major projects across the full lifecycle.
• Disciplined but pragmatic approach to design and delivering projects at construction, mining or industrial operating sites (brownfields / greenfields)
• High regard for operational interface planning and management
• Demonstrated understanding contract management process.
• High degree of project engineering / management capability, including risk and change management (know what good looks like)
• Ability to read / interpret plans and relate this information to in-field works.
• Exceptional communication skills, ability to lead teams, strong problem-solving ability coupled with capability to work to strict deadlines and deliver.
