Job summary

Xanda Group has been retained by an ASX-listed global Tier 1 mining company with a Perth head office to recruit a Mining Manager. The role ensures that all underground and maintenance activities are planned and executed to meet KPIs, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.

The successful candidate will lead the underground operation, manage direct reports, and drive performance within budget. A minimum of 10 years in mining and a First Class Mine Manager's Certificate is required to

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent.
• WA First Class Mine Manager's Certificate of Competency.
• 10+ years in underground or open pit mining.
• ≥5 years in a supervisory role.
• Strong knowledge of underground and open pit mining methods.

Responsibilities

• Ensure OHS and Environmental Management System standards compliance and participate in audits and training.
• Manage performance for all direct reports.
• Provide clarity and guidance to the underground operation and set achievable objectives within budget.
• Oversee technical and commercial aspects of the underground operation and monitor progress against planned goals.
• Approve plans, review benchmarks, and adjust plans as required.

Purpose of the Position

The Mining Manager is responsible for ensuring that all operational and maintenance functions and activities of the underground department are planned and executed to contribute to the achievement of the department's KPIs. The role also ensures site and department targets are met in a safe, efficient manner, in accordance with company standards and in full compliance with relevant legislative and statutory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Demonstrate full compliance with OHS and Environmental Management System standards by participating in initiatives, toolbox meetings, investigations and training, assisting with implementation, and contributing to audits within the mine
• Manage performance for all direct reports
• Provide clarity, guidance and consistency to the underground operation by setting clear and achievable objectives within agreed budget parameters
• Manage all technical and commercial aspects of the underground operation by monitoring and addressing achievement against planned goals and objectives
• Control underground operational activities by approving plans, reviewing and reporting against benchmarks, and adjusting plans when required

The Candidate

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mining)
• WA First Class Mine Manager's Certificate of Competency
• 10+ years' experience in an underground or open pit environment
• 5 years in an operational supervisory role
• Sound knowledge of underground and open pit mining methods
