NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water is seeking a Manager, Finance Technical Accounting to lead the technical accounting function.
You will provide expert advice on complex accounting issues, shape enterprise-wide policies and governance, and partner with senior stakeholders to support strategic decision-making in a large, evolving environment. The Financial Control and Reporting team within the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) delivers enterprise-wide financial governance, assurance and policy frameworks across the portfolio.
We partner with senior leaders, NSW Treasury, the Audit Office and key stakeholders across the department to navigate complex accounting and reporting matters, improve financial governance, and respond to emerging challenges including climate-related financial reporting and evolving regulatory requirements.
We are looking for an experienced technical accounting leader who enjoys working at the intersection of accounting standards, policy, governance and strategic decision-making. In this role, you will provide trusted expert advice on complex accounting issues, influence financial decision-making, shape enterprise-wide accounting policies and governance frameworks, and support the department's response to emerging and evolving accounting matters.
You will work closely with senior stakeholders, tackle complex transactions, drive improvements to accounting policies and governance practices, and ensure the organisation remains responsive to evolving accounting and regulatory requirements. You will also play a key role in building capability across the broader finance community, sharing your expertise and helping others navigate technical accounting challenges with confidence.
