Job summary

ASX, Australias securities exchange, invites applications for a role in Default Management. You will drive execution, portability and resilience across clearing products, building playbooks and readying operations for outages and settlements.

You will work with brokers, participants and regulators on governance and delivery of changes. The team expands the delivery pillar under the Senior Manager, focusing on practical, tested workflows and a strong control framework within a dynamic market

Qualifications

• 7+ years of domestic or international financial-markets experience across traded products and lifecycle.
• Delivery experience in scope, requirements, testing and implementation of change.
• Experience with governance, committees and regulatory or internal actions closure.
• Strong stakeholder management across business, operations, technology, legal and external parties.
• Ability to analyse complex operational problems and craft practical solutions under time pressure.
• Strong data discipline and ability to build processes from a standing start.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for non-technical audiences.
• Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent professional experience.

Responsibilities

Your Team

The Default Management team is responsible for ASX's preparedness and response to a clearing participant default across both clearing houses. Default management at ASX has strong foundations, and the team is now being expanded around three pillars: leadership and strategy; portfolio intelligence, auctions and analytics; and execution, portability and resilience. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Default Management, this role builds out the execution and operations pillar.

Your responsibilities

• Build out the execution, portability and resilience pillar - investigating, mapping and enhancing the capabilities that take an established framework further into practical, tested and evidenced application, including:
• Building the agreed Default Management uplift roadmap into a working operating model across cleared product classes.
• Developing default management playbooks, procedures and evidence that make default-time workflows practical and repeatable.
• Mapping and establishing operational readiness for portability, transfer, collateral and settlement continuity, working across ASX's operational and subject-matter teams.
• Establishing and testing default broker and counterparty execution readiness, closing gaps in coverage, arrangements and connectivity.
• Designing and running the operational components of fire drills and simulations, documenting and incorporating lessons learned.
• Building the default management communications and escalation framework, supporting Board, regulator and participant engagement.
• Defining and shaping Default Management requirements for market infrastructure change programmes and new products.
• Investigating and delivering assigned items on the Default Management delivery and assurance register, closing audit, regulatory and self-identified actions to schedule.
• Preparing papers and analysis for governance forums, and building working relationships with brokers, participants and regulators.

Your experience and qualifications

Must have

• Have 7+ years' domestic or international financial-markets experience, with practical understanding of traded products, liquidity, execution considerations and the pre- and post-trade lifecycle.
• Project or programme delivery experience, including scoping, requirements, testing and implementation of change in a financial-markets or post-trade environment.
• Experience operating within governance and control frameworks, including committee or Board material and managing audit, regulatory or self-identified actions through to closure.
• Strong stakeholder management, with a record of delivering across business, operations, technology, legal and external parties.
• Ability to analyse complex operational problems, identify dependencies and develop practical solutions under time pressure.
• Strong data and requirements discipline, with experience building processes, controls or operational capability from a standing start.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, including presenting technical matters to non-technical audiences.
• Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent professional experience.
• Experience working with external stakeholders including brokers, market participants and regulatory agencies.

Nice to have

• Experience gained in front office, markets operations, product control, market or counterparty risk, treasury, clearing, settlement or market infrastructure.
• Experience designing or running operational exercises, simulations or crisis scenarios.
• Experience in default management, recovery or resolution planning within a financial institution or market infrastructure
