EnergyCo NSW is seeking a governance professional to lead high‑quality governance and secretariat services for the Board and its committees, reporting to the Corporate Secretary. This is an ongoing fulltime role based in Sydney with hybrid work from home and in-office support.

You will manage board papers, agendas, minutes and briefings, provide strategic advice to senior executives, and drive continuous governance improvements across the organisation.

  • Salary range from $154,231 to $178,369 plus super and leave loading

EnergyCo NSW is spearheading the transition to renewable energy to deliver clean electricity to the people of NSW as coal-fired power stations near closure.

About the Opportunity

This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role at the heart of EnergyCo’s governance function, supporting the Board, its committees and executive leadership as NSW delivers the transformation of the state's energy system. Reporting to the Corporate Secretary, you will lead the delivery of high-quality governance and secretariat services, oversee Board and committee operations, drive key governance continuous improvement initiatives including Board effectiveness reviews and provide strategic advice to senior stakeholders. Working closely with the Board Chair, committee chairs, CEO, Executive Leadership Team and government stakeholders, you will ensure the delivery of high-quality papers, agendas, minutes and briefings that enable informed decision-making. This is a fast‑paced and highly visible leadership role requiring sound judgement, discretion and the ability to navigate competing priorities in a dynamic and evolving environment.

About You

You are an experienced governance professional with a strong track record supporting Boards and committees within a complex government, regulatory or corporate environment. You bring governance expertise, exceptional written communication skills, and a keen eye for detail, with the ability to quality assure complex papers and translate technical information into clear, concise advice for senior audiences. You are confident building trusted relationships with executives, Board members and external stakeholders, and excel at influencing outcomes through collaboration and sound judgement.

Adaptable and resilient, you thrive in environments where priorities can shift quickly and are comfortable balancing multiple competing demands and tight deadlines. A capable people leader, you enjoy coaching others, driving governance best practice across an organisation and delivering high-quality outcomes that support strong decision‑making and organisational success.

Essential Requirements
  • Tertiary qualification in public policy, law, business, governance or a related discipline and/or demonstrated equivalent experience.
Who we are?

The Energy Corporation of NSW (EnergyCo) is a statutory corporation established under the Energy and Utilities Administration Act 1987 and governed by its Board, appointed by the Minister for Energy. EnergyCo is a Staff Agency employing all EnergyCo staff and is an agency related to the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW).

EnergyCo plays a pivotal role in the NSW Government’s Electricity Infrastructure Roadmap, which aims to transform the state’s electricity system into one that is cheap, clean, and reliable. As Infrastructure Planner under the Electricity Infrastructure Investment Act 2020, EnergyCo is responsible for leading the delivery of the State’s first five Renewable Energy Zones (REZs) and the first two priority network infrastructure projects (PNIPs)[BP1], which are located in the Central-West Orana, New England, South West, Hunter-Central Coast, and Illawarra regions. We work closely with communities, investors, and industry to investigate, plan, recommend and coordinate generation, storage and network infrastructure projects.
