ThompsonCook in the Eastern Suburbs seeks an experienced Management Accountant to join the team. The role focuses on inventory, management reporting and production variance analysis, reporting to the CFO/COO in a flat, collaborative structure.

This position sits at the intersection of Finance and Operations, delivering high-quality financial reporting, operational analysis and cost insights to support business decision making.

Qualifications

• Monthly management accounts: P&L, cost centre reporting, variance analysis & commentary
• Support annual budget & forecasts with business units
• Own inventory accounting: valuation, reconciliations & data integrity
• Oversee landed cost calculations: customs, duties, freight
• Product costing, BOM reviews & margin analysis
• Production variance analysis & cost optimisation

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts including P&L and cost centre reporting, variance analysis and commentary
• Support the annual budget and ongoing forecasts with business units
• Own inventory accounting including valuation, reconciliations and data integrity
• Oversee landed cost calculations including customs charges, duties and freight allocations
• Support product and standard costing, BOM reviews and margin analysis
• Conduct production variance analysis and recommend operational efficiencies
• Manage inventory provisioning, obsolescence, stocktakes and cycle counts
• Partner with Operations leaders to drive cost optimisation and margin improvement
• Strengthen financial controls through balance sheet reconciliations and process improvements

The Opportunity

Our client is a well established, Australian wholesale and manufacturing business with a strong portfolio of owned and distributed brands, supplying retail customers across Australia and New Zealand. They are seeking an experienced Management Accountant to join their team.

Reporting to the CFO, this role sits at the intersection of Finance and Operations. It will deliver high quality financial reporting, operational analysis and cost insights to support business decision making.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants real exposure to production, inventory and logistics rather than a purely reporting focused role.

The Challenge

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

The Expertise

Please consider expressing interest in this position if you possess the following:

• Degree qualified in Accounting or Finance, with CA or CPA desirable
• Proven experience as a Management Accountant in a wholesale or manufacturing environment
• Strong expertise in inventory accounting, cost modelling and variance analysis
• Highly analytical, with strong attention to detail and the ability to interpret complex financial data
• Confidence to partner effectively with Operations and build relationships across production, sales and warehouse teams
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
