What We Are Looking For

We are seeking a friendly, outgoing, talkative, and motivating Disability Support Worker to support a male participant based in Tregear, NSW, with community access.

A male Support Worker is strongly preferred for this support arrangement, ideally someone who is 25–45 years old, outgoing, conversational, positive, and confident engaging in community activities.

The participant is looking for someone who can bring positive energy, motivation, and genuine social connection to the support relationship. The right worker will be comfortable having conversations, encouraging participation, and helping the participant get out into the community and take part in meaningful activities.

We are particularly interested in someone who is social, talkative, energetic, encouraging, and motivating, while still being respectful of the participant's individual preferences, choices, and independence.

Participant: Male participant with Autism (ASD)

Support Type: Community Access

Schedule: Mondays, 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM

Hours: 3 hours per week initially

Commencement: Monday, 28 September 2026

Future Hours: Potential for additional hours as the support arrangement develops

Responsibilities of the Role

• Support the participant to access and participate in the community.
• Encourage participation in meaningful, enjoyable, and appropriate community activities.
• Assist with community outings based on the participant's interests and preferences.
• Provide transportation to community activities as required.
• Support the participant to build confidence, independence, and community participation.
• Encourage positive social engagement and meaningful conversation.
• Build a strong, respectful, and trusting support relationship.
• Provide positive encouragement and motivation without being overly directive.
• Communicate clearly, respectfully, and appropriately.
• Support the participant to make choices about activities and how they would like to spend their support time.
• Maintain appropriate progress notes and documentation relating to supports provided.
• Communicate relevant observations or concerns to the appropriate Chosen Family team members.

The successful Support Worker must have:

• A valid Australian Driver's Licence.
• Access to a reliable vehicle suitable for community access.
• Willingness and ability to drive the participant to community activities as required.
• Experience or genuine interest in providing community access support.
• Reliability and consistency with the agreed Monday schedule.

About the Ideal Support Worker

Our preferred candidate will be:

About the Support Arrangement

The participant will initially receive one 3-hour community access shift each Monday, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

This is an opportunity for the right Support Worker to develop a consistent and positive support relationship. If the arrangement works well for both the participant and the Support Worker, there may be an opportunity for additional support hours in the future.

We are looking for someone who is genuinely interested in building a positive working relationship—not simply filling a rostered shift.
