Job summary

Alcoa is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor at the Wagerup Refinery to lead a team of tradespeople and workers, coordinate maintenance across operations, and ensure safe, reliable, cost-efficient activities in line with legislative requirements and Alcoa standards.

You will report to the Maintenance Superintendent, provide practical leadership, troubleshoot complex issues, coordinate planned and unplanned work with planners and contractors, and drive continual improvement in maintenance practices

Qualifications

• Mechanical Trade Certificate and Schedule 26 accreditation required.
• Experience in process plant or heavy industrial environments.
• Strong leadership and coaching abilities.
• Commitment to safety and high-risk work qualifications.

• Manage contractors, permits, inspections, audits and sign-off of safety-critical work performed within scope.
• Partner with internal stakeholders to improve maintenance practices and maximise asset utilisation.

About the Role

As a Maintenance Supervisor at our Wagerup Refinery, you will be a frontline leader responsible for safely and efficiently coordinating maintenance activities across our operations. Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent, you will lead a team of tradespeople, servicepersons and/or mine workers to maximise equipment availability, minimise operational downtime and deliver maintenance activities in line with legislative requirements and Alcoa standards.

You will provide practical leadership and technical support, helping your team solve complex maintenance issues, strengthen capability and continually improve performance. Working closely with planners, operations teams, contractors and other stakeholders, you will coordinate planned and unplanned work and ensure resources, materials and work scopes are aligned to business priorities.

• Ensure work complies with legislative requirements, Alcoa standards, site procedures and occupational health and safety expectations.
• Provide technical guidance, troubleshooting support and root-cause analysis for maintenance issues.
• Manage contractors, permits, inspections, audits and sign-off of safety-critical work performed within agreed scope.
• Partner with internal stakeholders to improve maintenance practices, control costs and maximise asset utilisation.

What you can bring to the role

You will be a safety-focused maintenance leader with the technical expertise, judgement and communication skills to guide teams and deliver reliable operational outcomes. To be successful in this role, you will bring:

• A Mechanical Trade Certificate, current Schedule 26 – Statutory Supervisor accreditation, and maintenance experience within a process plant, mining or similar heavy industrial environment.
• Demonstrated leadership experience, including coaching and developing teams, managing competing priorities and maintaining a strong safety culture.
• Sound knowledge of maintenance practices, plant and equipment, together with strong problem-solving, decision-making and continuous improvement capability.
• Strong communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills, supported by relevant high-risk work, working at heights, confined space entry and hot work permit qualifications.
